You don't have to remember anything except being alive. We email you the day a check-in comes due, then more insistently while the grace period runs.
If you miss the window, nothing releases immediately. A grace period begins, we try every channel you gave us, and only then do beneficiaries get their invitation.

Security model
Encrypted in your browser. Honest about what we hold.
Documents are sealed on your device before they reach us. The beneficiary path is end-to-end when you set a recovery question. While you are signed in, we store an owner wrap secret so your vault can unlock without a separate passphrase - details on the Security page.
Your document is encrypted in the browser before upload. What we store for content is ciphertext - not plaintext.
Owner wrap secrets and recovery answers are stretched locally at 310,000 iterations before keys wrap the vault DEK.
The beneficiary key is sealed under your recovery answers when you set questions. It only becomes usable after the dead-man window closes.

What if I just forget to check in?+
A single miss releases nothing. We remind you the day a check-in comes due, and a missed check-in opens a grace period (21 days by default) with further reminders on every channel you've given us. One tap anywhere in that window resets everything.
Can Recivity read my document?+
No. Encryption and decryption happen in the browser. We store ciphertext and metadata about your check-in schedule - never keys, never plaintext.
What stops a beneficiary from opening it early?+
The recovery key material they need isn't released to them until the dead-man window closes. Before that, correct answers to your questions unlock nothing.
What if a beneficiary can't answer the questions?+
You choose the questions, so pick ones your people can genuinely answer - and you can leave hints. You can also update questions and beneficiaries any time you're checked in.
What happens if Recivity shuts down?+
You can export your account and vault settings at any time, and the encryption design is documented publicly. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give at least 90 days' notice, let you download everything you have stored, and release vaults to their named beneficiaries where you have asked us to.
Does Recivity help me write a will?+
Yes. After you sign in, Will studio drafts a simple Canada common-law will from a questionnaire, keeps drafts encrypted, and helps you print for wet-ink signing. It is not legal advice. Quebec and complex estates are out of scope.
